Both events were held in Brown Gym on the ULM Campus February 18, Saturday • Mardi Gras ULM Band & Float Participated in the Krewe of Janus, Mardi Gras Parade February 21, Tuesday • University Associates Donor Recognition Donor Recognition Reception Event was held to honor University Associates and to unveil the ULM Wall of Honor, recognizing the Kitty DeGree Bell Tower Society and ULM Hall of Distinction members March 9, Thursday • Presidential Lyceum Series Series began in 2003 as an initiative to bring distinguished speakers, lecturers, artists and other talented people to ULM. Robert Kennedy, Jr., Thursday, March 9, 7:00 pm, Brown Auditorium May 2, Tuesday • Northern Exposure - Baton Rouge To honor our Northeast and North Central Louisiana legislative delegation, statewide elected officials and the entire Louisiana Legislature for their commitment to the betterment of our state while exposing them to the needs and concerns of the Northeast and North Central region. May 23, Tuesday • "Wine Over Water" - Ouachita Alumni Chapter A new and exciting event sponsored by the Ouachita Parish Alumni Chapter. Guests experienced a new tradition by strolling across the historic Bayou DeSiard Bridge beside the library while sampling wine and hors d'oeuvres from various local restaurants. August 21, Monday • ULM Convocation Official opening of the Fall semester as President Cofer and other campus representatives welcomed students to the ULM family. Convocation began in front of the ULM Library. The President of ULM led the Sound of Today, ULM's marching band, across the Bayou DeSiard Bridge and entered Fant-Ewing Coliseum followed by all participants. Once in the Coliseum, the semester was declared open. The ceremony ended with the singing of the ULM Fight Song and Alma Mater. September 25 • Homecoming Week ULM's 75th Anniversary Homecoming Week had plenty of activities and celebrations for all of its extended family and guests. Highlighted events included the Retirees' Luncheon, President's Gala, Golf and Tennis Tourney, Birthday Celebration and Homecoming Football Game. September 26, Tuesday • President's Gala The major fundraising event for the School of Visual and Performing Arts. In its third year, the event was open to the public. Black tie optional with aperitifs in the sculpture garden, an hour performance in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall, followed by a reception in the sculpture garden. The performance theme was based on the 75 years of the University's existence. September 28, Thursday • 75th Anniversary Celebration The first session of the Ouachita Parish Junior College began September 28, 1931, with a full corps of teachers and an enrollment of 416 students. ULM celebrated its grandest birthday -the 75th! November 9, Thursday • Envision 2006 The event was a celebration of all things ULM. All supporters, family and friends were welcome.
