Ms. Bernadine AdamsMS. BERNADINE ADAMS is the current Sister Liguori Lawton Endowed Professor in Nursing.

Adams began her career at ULM in 1974 as an instructor teaching pediatric nursing. She has taught in many areas of the nursing curriculum including maternal child health, fundamentals, management, and community health.

Adams has published and reviewed in numerous textbooks in maternal child health throughout her career in higher education which spans over thirty years. She is currently as associate professor teaching in Semester III of the professional program in nursing.

Community service areas related to adolescent health and breast cancer awareness are primary focus areas. She has written grants related to these areas in order to improve the human condition. Adams works diligently as a Director with the Witness Breast Cancer Awareness Project of Northeast Louisiana.

She continues to work clinically in various community settings and believes clinical practice is a must in order to keep abreast of the current health care system. Her clinical experiences include intensive care, pediatric, community health, medical surgical and labor and delivery nursing.


About the Endowment: 

The Sister Ligouri Lawton Professorship in Nursing endowment was established to encourage and reward excellence in teaching, learning and research at ULM.
