Dr. Richard ChardkoffDR. RICHARD CHARDKOFF is the holder of the L.M. McKneely Professorship in Humanities.

Richard Chardkoff, the recipient of the L.M. McKneeley Professorship in the Humanities, is a professor of history and adviser to the General Studies Program. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with his B.A., and received an M.A. and Ph.D. from Florida State University. Chardkoff is the author of a dozen articles published in historical publications and numerous book reviews. His books include “Sol’s Story” and “The Flyboy Heroes of Selman Field.”

Chardkoff has received numerous honors including three grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, a Canadian Government Studies Grant, Fulbright Fellowship to Argentina, and a University of Louisiana Research Fellowship to Poland.

He has served on the Executive Board of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, and currently is a member of the Fulbright National Screening Committee for the Central America/Caribbean region.

The L.M. McKneely Professorship in the Humanities endowment was established to encourage and reward excellence in teaching, learning and research at ULM.
