Dunn came to ULM in 1968 from the University of Arkansas, where he earned a Ph.D. in Economics as an associate professor of marketing. He was promoted to professor in 1976 and Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and Small Business in 1988. He is the director of the ULM Entrepreneurship Studies Center, the ULM Small Business Development Center, and the ULM Small Business Institute. Dunn has been recognized for his teaching with several outstanding teacher awards including the University Alumni Association Distinguished Teacher award. He was instrumental in planning and implementing the ULM BBA in Entrepreneurship. Dunn is the coauthor of three books and numerous journal articles, proceedings and cases. His research interests include entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship, small business and small business management. He has made numerous presentations to professional, business, civic, and social groups during his career. He holds memberships and has served as an officer in local, regional, and national organizations related to entrepreneurship and small business. He is a Charter Founder, a Fellow, and Mentor in the Small Business Institute and the Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Dunn has taught and consulted with thousands of entrepreneurs and small business owners as Director of the Small Business Institute since 1972 and the Small Business Development Center since 1977. He was one of the founders of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center program. Dunn has received and managed several million dollars in grants and contracts since 1977. About the Endowment: The Gannett Foundation Grant Endowed Professorship in Entrepreneurship endowment was established to encourage and reward excellence in teaching, learning and research at ULM. |
