Dr. William RyanMR. WILLIAM RYAN is the holder of the Tommy and Mary Barham Endowed Professorship in English.

Bill Ryan published a novel with a major New York publisher that was reviewed widely and reprinted in paperback. He has published two books of poetry, a limited edition chapbook, and several stories, poems, and articles in periodicals, including “Willow Springs,” “The Minnesota Review,” “Paragraph,” and “The Journal of Irish Literature.”

His translations of the poetry of Dominican poet, Carlos Rodríguez, were published in “Red Dirt.” He has delivered several public readings of his work, contracted by such institutions as Mt. Holyoke College, Southern New Hampshire University and Emporia State University.

The New Jersey Council on the Arts twice endowed him with writing fellowships, and in 1994 he received an Artist’s Fellowship from the Louisiana Division of the Arts. Twice his work has been nominated by editors for the national Pushcart Prize.

He co-directs the Creative Writing Program and the Visiting Writers Series and co-edits “turnrow,” the English Department’s international literary journal.
