Dr.Wilson CampbellDR. WILSON CAMPBELL is the holder of the Lucy Shackelford Professorship in Kinesiology.

Dr. Campbell, a member of the Kinesiology Department for 28 years, received his B.S. in Health and Physical Education and M.Ed. in Physical education at ULM and an Ed.D in Education at the University of Southern Mississippi.

During his tenure at ULM, he served for seven years as the mens head tennis coach, winning five conference titles, twice had teams ranked twentieth in the nation, and was selected as one of the top three Division 1-A coaches in the nation.

He presently serves as the department head for Kinesiology, where the master’s program in Exercise Science was the first nationally accredited program and the undergraduate concentration in Exercise Science was second to receive national accreditation.

An active grant writer, Dr. Campbell has collaborated with several school districts to submit over $2.75 million and presently serves as project director for the Monroe City School District, implementing an $820,680 U.S. Department of Education PEP grant.

Dr. Campbell travels around the state conducting workshops on how school districts can implement a 21st century physical education program. In 2006 he was named the Outstanding Professor in the College of Education and Human Development.

The Lucy Shackelford Professorship in Kinesiology endowment was established to encourage and reward excellence in teaching, learning and research at ULM.
