Dr. June Conway, Brief Bio.
Dr. June Conway joined the Department of Art in 2010. A BA in Sociology from LSU, Housing & Design graduate degrees from La. Tech and Texas Women’s University, and post-graduate certification in Gerontology have produced a multi-disciplinary approach in Dr. Conway’s teaching style. She has been at ULM since 1979, producing 18 different courses including Interior Design, Personal and Family Management, and Housing the Elderly in the Departments of Family and Consumer Science, Construction-Management, and General Studies.
Free-lance interior design projects for the last 35 years have provided Dr. Conway with real life experiences to incorporate into the classroom. Some projects of interest include 10 buildings on the La. Baptist Children's Home campus in Monroe, four churches in North Louisiana, the Monroe YWCA historical restoration of a former Governor’s home, the 20,000 square foot Sellers Maternity Home in Tallulah, La., and multiple residences and business sites and showrooms. She has also consulted in the modifications of nursing homes and other residential elderly facilities, including Live Oaks Residential Home in Shreveport.
Volunteer work has included conducting a program at Richland Parish Detention Center for Women, American Heart Assn. Board, Chamber of Commerce Event Committees, Beautification Board Member, and Board of Directors for Women’s Retreats in Monroe.
Dr. Conway is quick to note that the two greatest accomplishments she can claim are her daughters, Elizabeth and Amy, who live in Calif.
