1.1 Outcomes/Objectives:
Recruit for faculty vacancies as necessary in the national market.

Measure: Accepted contract offers.
Target: All vacancies will be filled as deemed necessary to fulfill mission of the program.
Tactical steps: Send faculty to national/regional meetings to recruit. Place ads on the ASC website and other national outlets.

2010-11: The placement rate for construction management majors is around 70%. Market conditions in Louisiana and surrounding areas continue to be weak.

2010-11: The mandatory dues structure was officially instated in 2008. Members who joined the IAC before mandatory dues were instated were given the option of paying their dues and continuing as members of the council or finishing out their three-year appointment without paying dues and without the option to remain on the IAC after their current appointment runs out. All current IAC members are now paying IAC dues.

Goal 5: Maintain student involvement with the construction industry
Aligns with the University's Goal 6: "Strengthen relationships with ULM constituencies."

5.1 Outcomes/Objectives:
Have students begin interaction with the construction industry during early years in the program

Measure: Students will become familiar with the various opportunities in the construction industry.
Target: Students will learn about the major types of construction. (commercial, industrial, highway, etc. . .).
Tactical steps: Students will attend industry informational sessions.
Timeframe for evaluation: Ongoing

2010-11: Students, including freshmen, only attended 3 formal, on campus, presentations on opportunities in the construction industry.

5.2 Outcomes/Objectives:
Students will meet alumni who are professionals in the industry

Measure: Students will interact with alumni.
Target: Students will meet IAC members.
Tactical steps: Students will meet with IAC members during semi-annual meeting during lunch and in closed student/IAC meetings.
Timeframe for evaluation: Ongoing

2010-11: Approximately 20 students attended two luncheons with the IAC during each of the bi-annual meetings, and then 6-8 students met in closed session with the council members to discuss the construction program and various other items. These numbers are the same as the previous year.

Have students participate in industry sponsored events.

2010-11 Students formed teams and competed in the Heavy Highway, Commercial, and Design/Build competitions sponsored by TEXO / ASC. Students also attended the national AGC Convention in Las Vegas and participated in AGC student chapter events.

2009-10: The placement opportunity rate for fall and spring graduates was near 75%. Initial reaction is that the current economic collapse is, in part, responsible for the drop in placement rate.

2009-10: Students were assessed in three areas. See Student Learning Outcomes for 2009-2010.

Ability to compose a written report free of errors in punctuation and grammar - The target was "75% of students will produce a technical report which contains fewer than 5 errors in punctuation and grammar." The results were "83% met the target of having 5 or fewer mistakes. 40% had error free reports."

Ability to organize a technical report according to a given set of instructions - The target was "80% of students will produce a technical report which follows all given instructions." The results were "Only 45% of the reports followed all instructions."

Ability to develop a technical presentation - The target was "80% of students will develop a technical presentation which effectively communicates their ideas." The results were "Only 55% of the presentations met all requirements. Presenting the material in the time frame required was the predominant mistake.
