Summer Program Overview
For children identified as gifted and/or talented and/or learners with high levels of academic ability and creativity.
R.E.A.C.H.
Research Enrichment Acceleration Creativity for children with High potential
This program consists of a two-week mini-course on an original, thematic conceptual unit designed especially for children with high potential. Classes are organized: Elementary (1-3), Middle (4-5-6), and High School (7-12).
Daily Schedule:
8:30am-8:45am Arrival
8:45am-11:45am Mini-Course
11:45am-12:45pm Lunch
12:45pm-2:45pm Mini-Course
2:45pm-3:00pm Dismissal
Eligibility
-Completed grade 1-11 during 2009-2010 school year and-Provide evidence as gifted and talented according to Louisiana State Department of Education Guidelines in Bulletin 1706
OR
Those students of high potential who are not identified as gifted require screening – Cost $40
Screening includes:
-Analysis of official reports of standardized test scores at or above 90%
-A battery of screening assessments to include:
Characteristics Screening, Brief Academic Screening, and Creativity Screening
-Screening dates to be announced
