JOB EXPECTATION
Adjunct will teach online undergraduate Health Studies (HS) in an accelerated course format (8 weeks). Health Studies courses include Healthcare Issues, Informatics, Research and Design, Ethics, Leadership, Cultural Diversity, Administration, Internships, & Social Epidemiology.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal person for this position includes earned doctorate in public health, health science, healthcare management or closely related field. Experience in program development and online teaching in health related fields is highly desirable. Responsibilities will include development and/or teaching designated HS courses to online accelerated format. The adjunct is expected to provide carefully formulated and well-written syllabi in a timely manner and complete ULM’s online training program in Moodle. Specific guidelines with regards to syllabus format, content, lectures and assignments must be followed. In addition, the adjunct is expected to adhere to all ULM and Department of Health Studies expectations, which are clearly set forth at the start of the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Areas of expertise that the resident will be expected to develop during the residency include, but are not limited to: developing the knowledge, abilities, and skills that are required of an ambulatory care pharmacist practitioner in the course of performing pharmaceutical care; conducting patient interviews, including obtaining complete medication history and assessing adherence, performing physical assessment, using laboratory data, and integrating these skills with therapeutic knowledge in order to manage ambulatory care disease states and monitor drug therapy; participating in an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care; prospective monitoring of drug therapy for drug-drug, drug-laboratory, drug-food, drug-disease interactions, and recommending modifications when appropriate to minimize such interactions; developing skills as a co-preceptor by having shared responsibilities with other pharmacy practitioners in training 4th year pharmacy students in clinic settings; comprehensive patient education regarding disease and drug therapy; coordinating and conducting organized educational programs for patients and members of the health care team; answering drug information questions for a variety of patients, students and health care practitioners; developing new pharmacy services at the residency training sites, including early planning and final implementation; developing research skills by conducting a comprehensive residency project and developing presentation skills by disseminating the results with colleagues in poster and platform formats at regional and national meetings; organizing and conducting monthly journal club and patient care presentations with 4th year clinical pharmacists, thus providing educational experiences for pharmacy students; developing presentations for pharmacy students at ULM in the didactic setting; namely, presenting in a 1st professional pharmacy year introduction to pharmacy class and presenting in a 2nd or 3rd year pharmacy therapeutics class; acquire skills as an academician by developing test questions, lessons and outcomes assessment in relation to giving the aforementioned didactic presentations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position of non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Pharmacy Practice has a multitude of responsibilities that center primarily around teaching and service. Teaching is a primary responsibility for non-tenure track Pharmacy Practice faculty. Faculty are expected to provide didactic lectures as well as teach in the Advanced Practice Experience program. Didactic lectures may be taught on campus or through distance learning technology. Teaching responsibilities are at the discretion of the Department Head. The successful candidate will be expected to initiate a pharmaceutical care service which will serve as their basis for teaching and scholarship. The provision of services via university committees and professional organizations is also expected. The Department expects that individual faculty participate in the scholarship process. DESCRIPTION
Full-time 9 month tenure track appointment for Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, with summer teaching possible. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related discipline. They should hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and be eligible for Louisiana licensure. ABD candidates will be considered, but a completed doctorate will be required prior to consideration for tenure. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.

INFORMATION
The Department of Communicative Disorders is within the College of Health Sciences and offers the B.S. and M.S. degrees. There are approximately 80 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. The CAA of ASHA accredits the M.S. program in Speech-Language Pathology. The program is scheduled to move into a new facility during 2007-2008. In addition to an on-campus Speech and Hearing Clinic, graduate students also obtain clinical clock hours through the Scottish Rite Speech and Hearing Clinic and various intern sites throughout the region.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe is a co-educational, state-supported institution with an enrollment of 9000. The Monroe/West Monroe area has a population of 140,000 with numerous cultural and recreational activities including NCAA Division I athletics (Sun Belt Conference), the James E. The Department of English is a community of thirty professors and instructors who represent varied interests in literary studies, rhetoric and composition, and creative writing. The Department offers the undergraduate degree and the M.A. in English, and publishes a national journal, turnrow, and a student literary magazine, The Helicon, while also overseeing the publication of the student newspaper, The Hawkeye, and the ULM yearbook, The Chacahoula.

The Department Head position is a 9-month hybrid faculty/administrator appointment, with half-time devoted to teaching and research and half devoted to administrative duties, including, but not limited to, scheduling, conducting faculty evaluations and mentoring, serving as Departmental liaison to the College, and shepherding departmental strategic planning and direction.
