Enterprise System Specialist (4772)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PURPOSE: To participate in the installation, maintenance, and administration of complex systems, software and related packages.
REPORTS TO: Enterprise Systems & Security Manager
Technology Support Manager
DUTIES:
• Assists in the operation of centralized Microsoft Server Operating Systems related to applications that revolve around the Campus-wide technology resources. This includes server installation and patch management.
• Work with 3rd party application vendors for hardware sizing for new applications as well as application support for current purchased applications.
• Monitors the campus network and related application servers to assure proper performance and security of these resources via firewalls, email servers, etc.
• Closely advised by support staff and works with users to determine the most effective use of resources to meet ULM’s needs. Recommends procedures to enhance use of computing resources and documents systems procedures.
• Assists the ESSM in determining priorities and methods to meet user needs.
• Maintains awareness of software and hardware offerings.
• Assists the Computing Center staff and other committees in reviewing, evaluating and recommending the use of software and hardware products to augment or enhance the capabilities and performance of the systems.
• Provides management of Microsoft OS servers, VMware Virtualization, SAN, and Firewalls.
• Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Candidate must have detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Server/Desktop OS, VMware (or similar virtualization). Full working knowledge of TCP/IP networks. Working knowledge of Enterprise Firewalls, DNS, and DHCP. Microsoft SQL database knowledge preferred along w/ SQL scripting. Microsoft Active Directory & policy management. Work well with others on team projects. College degree in technical based study.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position serves as an academic counselor within the Student Success Center offering academic support services to student-athletes.
This position reports directly to the Director of Retention and to the Coordinator of Academic Counseling.
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
• Maintaining the highest standard of integrity through compliance with all University, Sun Belt Conference and NCAA rules and regulations
• Responsible for identifying and addressing the academic needs of student-athletes in the sports assigned, by providing, or arranging for the provision of, academic support services
• Maintaining accurate and complete records on assigned student-athletes
• Monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes throughout the academic year, to include:
Providing academic counseling assistance in the areas of course selection and registration for student-athletes assigned to this position
Monitoring and approving classes to be added/dropped by assigned student-athletes, including counseling students about such matters
Reviewing and approving curriculum/major changes processed by assigned student athletes, including counseling students about such matters
• Assisting student-athletes to understand the nature and purpose of a University education and guide student-athletes toward individual responsibility, to include directing the student-athlete to:
Become familiar with University policies, registration procedures and regulations
Utilize all of the University’s resources
Obtain information about numerous academic programs available
Assume responsibility for planning and monitoring his or her academic progress
Develop a sense of belonging within the University
• Communicating regularly with the Director of Retention, Coordinator of Academic Counseling, the Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic and Compliance, and the Head Coach (or designee) regarding academic programming and the academic and eligibility status of assigned student-athletes
• Communicating with advisors and faculty as needed in order to provide appropriate support to student-athletes
• Reviewing academic credentials of prospective student-athletes and providing recommendations to the coaching staff
• Meeting with prospective student-athletes, parents and others during regular office hours and occasional weekends during heavy recruiting periods
• Coordinate the NCAA Academic Performance Program
Other duties include:
• Keeping up-to-date information on Department, University, Sun Belt Conference and NCAA policies and bylaws
• Serving as referral agent to other University services
• Attending staff meetings and participating in appropriate professional development and office activities
• Assisting in coordination of Supervised Study and Mentoring Programs
• Performing other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Master’s degree in a related field is required. Professional experience in intercollegiate athletics is desirable, direct experience with academic counseling is ideal. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work occasional nights and weekends is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President for Academic Affairs reports directly to and works closely with the President. As the chief academic officer of the University, the Vice President is expected to promote academic excellence in the faculty and academic programs, and to promote efficiency in instructional operations. Major responsibilities include providing creative and dynamic academic leadership and policy direction for university-wide planning and resource allocation; providing energy and vision to facilitate curriculum development, assessment and the acquisition and implementation of technology; sensitivity to the role of applied research and workforce development in support of regional needs; identifying and facilitating the potential for academic collaborations, especially that of the community college sector; and promoting a collegial working environment within the university and with the broader community.
• Represent the University in all aspects in the President’s and Special Assistant to the President’s absence;
• Provide leadership and oversight for teaching, research, service, and other academic functions of the University consistent with its mission;
• Lead and oversee strategic planning for academic affairs and for promoting a set of academic priorities that will be accomplished with the highest possible quality;
• Provide leadership in the development, enhancement, and review of academic policies and programs in conjunction with the deans and faculty;
• Advocate an environment respectful of the role of faculty in shared governance;
• Oversee the accreditation processes for the University (COC/SACS), colleges, departments, and programs, and ensuring that academic programs comply with governing rules and regulations and accreditation guidelines;
• Oversee the development of budgets and the allocation and management of resources for academic affairs;
• Conduct processes for the selection, development, and evaluation of academic deans, and other direct reports;
• Approve the recruitment and selection of the deans and department heads;
• Oversee the process of faculty recruitment, appointment, development, retention, evaluation, promotion, tenure and post-tenure review, and faculty grievances;

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Master’s degree from an accredited institution. A minimum of three years progressively-responsible higher education experience demonstrating strong leadership and management skills. Ability to effectively motivate, manage and supervise employees. Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize competing tasks and handle multiple tasks under time constraints. Accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of federal privacy laws and understanding of related legal issues. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with technology services staff to express needs for specific data and desired technological improvements. Ability to produce results while working as part of a collaborative team. Familiarity with SunGuard Banner system preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Qualifications include a B.S. degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, or one of the health sciences, and programming experience. Substantial relevant experience analyzing large databases along with superior analytical skills may substitute for B.S. degree. SAS®/SAS® Enterprise Guide®, HEDIS®, SQL, data warehousing/data mining or other database experience is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required. Applicant should be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, be flexible with the ability to organize and multitask, and value teamwork. Knowledge of health insurance claims also a plus.
