Job Opportunities in Chemistry

Job opportunities for B.S. chemists are varied and depend on geographical preference. If one wishes to remain in north Louisiana, chemical careers are possible in the paper industry, private analytical labs, state crime labs and testing labs, and in agriculture-related industries. South Louisiana offers job opportunities at an extensive array of private industries, as do out-of-state locations. ULM Chemistry graduates for the past ten years have all secured desirable positions. The trend in American higher education toward fewer science and mathematics majors will create a greater demand for those majors. Many B.S. graduates from ULM gain admittance to professional programs such as medical, dental and law schools. ULM graduates who obtain the ACS-accredited B.S. degree are especially successful in pursuing graduate studies leading to Masters and Ph.D. degrees.
