  • 1996-2001 Ph.D. Degree, Instructional Technology, Ohio University, June 2001: Full academic scholarship with teaching responsibilities. Graduated with academic honors. Dissertation involved new applied research in the application of speech recognition to improve pronunciation of Chinese in non-native language learners. This research led to the development of original multimedia-based learning software materials for the instruction of Chinese:
    • Co-presented an enthusiastically received technology demonstration at the 4 th annual National Council of Organizations of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL) conference, April 2001, in Washington, D.C.
  • 1977-1979 M.A. Degree. Public Administration, Ohio University. Athens, Ohio. Full academic scholarship as a Teaching Assistant in the Political Science Department. Graduated with academic honors. Instructed own courses.
  • 1975-1977 B.A. Degree, Political Science from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Minor in Engineering. Graduated with academic honors. This department developed the SPSS statistics software program.

  • 2004-Present Associate Professor, College of Education, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Monroe, Louisiana. Instructional Technology program.
  • 1998-2004 Assistant Professor/Adjunct Faculty, College of Education, Ohio University, Athens , Ohio. Instructor of Instructional Technology undergraduate and graduate courses for the College of Education based on NCATE and ISTE standards.
    • Instructed 20 sections of EDCI 203/EDCT 501 " Technology Applications in Education " to 500 undergraduate and graduate pre-service instructors, satisfying required licensure requirements for technology integration skills, as mandated by the state of Ohio Department of Education.
    • Taught 500 undergraduate and graduate pre-service instructors.
    • Supervision of Instructional Technology doctoral student internships in advanced programming of instructional multimedia software projects.
    • Initiated and secured several technology-based grants. Funding of one grant enabled the College to offer its first online course (EDC1 532), Fall 1999.
  • 1999-2004 Professional Multimedia Software Developer, Beutner Multimedia Software Services, founded July, 1999. Professional development of software. Contracted production of 20+ commercial video-based educational software titles. Sales of over 10,000 titles. Instructional design, digital media production, and state-of-the-art software programming. Vendor for the Boy Scouts of America.
  • 1/02 – 7/02 Interim College Technology Specialist, College of Health and Human Services, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Management of technology for approximately 200 faculty and staff. Administration, supervision, and staffing of a large state-of-the-art Computer Lab with 11 Lab Assistants.
  • Technical Workshop Instructor , Business Technology Program Series, sponsored by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) , the Ohio University Innovation Center , and the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce . Instruction of technology training workshops to over 200 learners.
