PAYROLL ANNOUNCEMENTS

ALL EMPLOYEES/STUDENT EMPLOYEES

March 17, 2011

Greetings Supervisors:

The Office of Career Connections and Experiential Education is pleased to announce that ULM will again celebrate National Student Employment Week, April 11-15, 2011. We will once again host in our office the campus-wide Student Employee Appreciation Reception on Tuesday, April 12, from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. President Bruno will attend to sign the official proclamation and greet students. We encourage you and your student workers to attend this wonderful event. Your response to last year’s celebration was absolutely overwhelming!

Now let’s get ready for an even more exciting year. For the first time on our campus, we will be awarding two Student Employment Awards during National Student Employment Week. Awards will given for Student Employee of the Year and Student Employee Team of the Year. You will have an opportunity to nominate one of your student workers that you believe has gone above and beyond the call of duty resulting in a positive impact on your department. You will also be able to nominate your whole student employee team, recognizing them for their outstanding teamwork and contribution to making your department run efficiently and effectively. President Bruno will present the winners their awards around noon during the Student Employee Appreciation Reception on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

The nomination forms and the criteria for these awards are now online at www.ulm.edu/careerconnections, under Events: National Student Employment Week. All forms must be submitted by 5 pm, March 28. Sorry, late nominations will not be accepted. More information about National Student Employee Week including the Certificates of Appreciation you can give to your students and the event’s week calendar are also posted on the Career Connections website, along with suggestions of possible departmental activities.

Celebrate our student workers during National Student Employment Week! Recognize your best student worker and/or team by completing a nomination form. Attend the reception with your student workers so they can be recognized by Dr. Bruno for their invaluable contributions to your department operations. But above all, plan your own celebration with your student workers to let them know how much they are appreciated.

Thank you!

Please note your Federal Income Tax Withholding will increase in 2011 due to the New Income Tax Withholding tables that have been implemented as a result of the recently passed Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010.

If you are an employee who has social security withheld from your pay, you will see a decrease in the employee portion.  The employee portion of social security decreased from 6.2% to 4.2%.

These changes are effective as of January 1, 2011.

To All Employees:

With the implementation of the new Banner Payroll/HR system, effective 07/01/2010 we are implementing a new Banner Self Service system which is called the ULM Online Information System. This new Self Service will replace the existing Employee Self Service system and will allow you to review your payroll and benefits information, view your personal information, and leave balances just as you could in the old Employee Self Service.

The link to the new ULM Online Information System is https://banner.ulm.edu and can also be found on the Faculty and Staff web page. Instructions for logging on to the new ULM Online Information System can be found on the ULM Forms page under Payroll/Controllers Office or by clicking on the following link http://www.ulm.edu/forms/co/banneressinstructions.pdf

Your initial logon for this new system will be your User ID which is your CWID (Campus Wide ID) and your PIN which is your birth date in the following format MMDDYY. Once you log in for the 1st time you will be prompted to reset your password. Just follow the instructions referenced above.

If you have any issues logging in, please contact Human Resources at 318-342-5140 and we will be glad to assist.
