Admission to the Master of Science in Counseling is at the discretion of the Program Admissions Committee of the Counseling Program. In addition to the University requirements for admission to the Graduate School at ULM, applicants for admission to the Master of Science degree program in Counseling will meet one of the following criteria:
1. A minimum undergraduate grade-point average of 2.8 overall or on the last sixty semester hours of undergraduate course work.
2. A minimum combined score of 900 on the GRE General Test (Verbal plus
Quantitative).
3. A total of at least 1900 points based upon the formula-400 times the undergraduate grade-point average on the last sixty semester hours of undergraduate course work plus the combined GRE General Test score (Verbal plus Quantitative).

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling curriculum leads to recognition in Louisiana as meeting the course work requirements for the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Louisiana. Please check with your state licensing board to determine how well ULM’s counseling program’s curriculum matches their requirements. Out of state students should also check with their state licensing boards to see if there are regulations in place regarding earning an online counseling degree.
