Bachelor of Science Degree Program
The Bachelor of Science Degree Program is composed of two segments:
- pre-dental hygiene
- professional dental hygiene
Pre-dental hygiene is comprised of four academic semesters, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university. Credits will be accepted from other pre-dental hygiene curricula upon approval of the Program Director.
Applications for the professional portion of the program must be submitted to the Department of Dental Hygiene by March 1 of the year the student wishes to enter.
An interview will be granted to those who meet the following requirements:
- admission application to ULM if not currently enrolled
- completion of pre-dental hygiene curriculum, including a minimum of 20 science hours and a total of 40 overall hours by date of application
- a 2.5 overall grade point average or above in their college courses with the exception of remedial courses
- submission of an official copy of the American College Test (ACT) scores
- official copy of college transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

Degree Completion Program
This program is designed for hygienists that have completed an associate degree program and desire to continue their education toward a baccalaureate degree. Basic requirements and credentials for admission are:

Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program with a minimum of a 2.5 average.

Successful completion of the Dental Hygiene National Board Examination.

Complete college transcripts.

Application for admission to The University of Louisiana at Monroe and an application to the Dental Hygiene Program.
Following acceptance, an individual curriculum will be developed for each student depending upon:

The college courses completed previously.

The time lapse since the associate degree was awarded.

Current clinical experience.
