Licensure
Dental Hygienists must complete an accredited university curriculum and pass National and State Board Examinations in order to be licensed to practice.
Upon completion of the dental hygiene program, he/she is eligible to apply for state licensing exams. Licensure certifies that the person is qualified to perform the dental hygiene functions permitted in the State Practice Act the dental hygiene functions permitted in the Louisiana State Dental Practice Act.
