Just in time for the holiday season, the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Annual Art Sale will begin Monday, Dec. 2, and run through Friday, Dec. 6. Varied works of art from ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts students, faculty, and alumni will be on display and on sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in Bry Art Gallery.
Officials in the English Department at the University of Louisiana at Monroe honored the winners of the Freshman Essay Contest during a special ceremony at the ULM Library. The essay contest is held in conjunction with ULM's Summer Reading program, which is designed to introduce first-year students to intellectual exchange at ULM.
KEDM Public Radio, 90.3 FM--housed at the University of Louisiana at Monroe--is one of 26 National Public Radio (NPR) member stations selected to participate in a pilot program to demonstrate the delivery of emergency alerts to people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in the Gulf Coast states.
Three students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe Department of Art recently had their works accepted into the Delta National Small Prints Exhibition (DNSPE) at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas. Sara Beth Howard of Lake Providence, Ben Bennett of Oak Grove, and Danielle Gurgiolo of Monroe were selected for the 2014 exhibition.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 26, the annual Holidays at ULM celebration will take place on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus. This year, the campus tree has found a new home in front of Brown Hall, facing DeSiard Street.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts recently named Dr. James Layfield as the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Endowed Chair in Music, and Dr. Mel Mobley as the new Emy-Lou Biedenharn Endowed Professor in Music. The two endowments will allow the professors to expand their research within their field.
