The University of Louisiana at Monroe recently hosted two fairs: the 2013 Region III Science and Engineer Fair on Tuesday, March 12, and the 2013 Region III Social Studies Fair on Thursday, March 14. Both fairs were held at ULM's Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Philanthropist Kitty DeGree devoted her life to bettering the community, and on April 12 the community recognized her unparalleled dedication. University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty, staff, students, and community officials celebrated the dedication of Kitty DeGree Hall, formerly known as the ULM Nursing Building.

For the past eight years, the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Business has worked closely with Louisiana Tech’s College of Business to deliver the Business and Economic Outlook Summit for the betterment of the region. The summit will be held from 8 a.m. 12 p.m., Friday, April 19, at the headquarters of CenturyLink, located at 100 CenturyTel Drive (U.S. Highway 165 North) in Monroe.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host the Second Annual School Law Conference from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 30 in the Student Union Building second floor ballrooms.

Michael Davis, assistant director for housing at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, received a Service Award from the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO) during their annual conference in Atlanta, Ga., in early March.

The National Cancer Institute awarded $310,045 to Yong-Yu Liu, an associate professor of pharmacology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The grant will fund his "critically important" breast cancer research.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts announces its rendition of the celebrated musical "Guys and Dolls" in ULM's Brown Theatre. One showing will be given every day from April 18-21. Each evening's performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday's showing at 2 p.m.
