Three education programs at The University of Louisiana at Monroe have been nationally ranked in the latest edition of "Best Value Online" by TopMastersinEducation.com. The programs ranked include: curriculum and instruction, teaching, and educational leadership.
Xiomara Bell, a Tallulah native and master's student in the University of Louisiana at Monroe's history program, has created an African American History display with Associate Professor of history, Dr. Jeffrey Anderson. The display is now open for viewing in ULM's Special Collections, located on the 5th floor of the ULM Library.
The Foundation at the University of Louisiana at Monroe held its annual Donor Recognition Program in the ULM Library Conference Center on Feb. 6. Honored were members of the Kitty DeGree Bell Tower Society, and the University Associates. The Hall of Distinction Award--given to donors with a lifetime commitment of over $1 million--was presented to the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation.
The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Office of Career Connections will host its annual spring Career Fair for ULM juniors, seniors, and alumni, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Student Union Ballroom, located on the second floor of the Student Union Building (SUB).
Two University of Louisiana at Monroe business honor societies were recognized as being among the best in the country. ULM's chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma-- the international honor society for business programs-- was recognized as a premier chapter for 2014 and Beta Alpha Psi--an international honor society for financial information professionals--recognized ULM's Eta Sigma Chapter as a Superior Chapter.
The popular University of Louisiana at Monroe Guitar Festival will take place Feb. 9-13 on the ULM campus. The community is encouraged to attend, and all events are free and open to the public. Each event features various styles and sounds and provides entertainment for all ages.
Dr. Derle R. Long, director of the University of Louisiana at Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), was named the Edmund Williamson Artist of the Year at the 30th Annual Northeast Louisiana Arts Council Artworks 2015 Awards ceremony.
For the first time in university history, a squad from the University of Louisiana at Monroe's mock trial team finished as one of the top-seven teams at the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Regional Tournament on Feb. 1.

Takei, also known for his character Hikaru Sulu in the popular Star Trek series, will speak at the University of Louisiana at Monroe as part of this year's Lyceum Series.
