Part-time News Content Specialist –KPLC-TV has an immediate opening for a part-time news/content specialist to run studio cameras for newscasts, assist with video production, and serve as a video photojournalist/live truck operator. Purpose of Job:  Work primarily at an assigned Region 8 high school(s) to provide career coaching services to students needing assistance with choosing a career pathway, developing a career plan, applying for dual enrollment in a program of study at a post- secondary institution or applying to enter post-secondary institution, and applying for federal financial aid. 
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:  •       Work closely with Counselor, Graduation Coach and/or Retention Coach at local high schools to acquire referrals of students. 
•        Develop a caseload of students who are in need of career coaching services.
•        Conduct one-on-one career coaching services with juniors and seniors; must meet set goals as well as provide documentation of progress met 
•        Develop and maintain a relationship with students, teachers and parents, high school and key college offices (enrollment services - recruitment, admissions; career services, financial aid, etc.) and leaders (academic deans and directors)
•        Meet with students periodically, either individually or in small groups, to discuss their career goals, attendance, academic performance or any related concerns they may have. 
•        Refer students to the Guidance Counselor or Graduation Coach for academic or personal needs beyond the services provided by the career coach. 
•        Monitor students and document (using provided forms) progress so each student will be on track for entering post-secondary education and training. 
•        Assist students in the area of dual enrollment and entering post- secondary institutions as a full time student. (i.e. filling out college applications and financial aid forms, etc.)
•        Promote articulation of secondary to post-secondary courses.
•        Will maintain and submit proper records/documentation as required by supervisor.
•        Must meet deadlines as well as attend all training\'s and bi-weekly meetings. 
•        Must actively participate in the planning and facilitation of special events (i.e. Career and Technology Fair, Destination Delta, College Goal Sunday quarterly events, etc.)
•        Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The following duties will be added to the Coach who serves a small school and works as program quality control support: 
•        Will assist Career Readiness Coordinator with document compliance – will communicate with Career Coaches working in High Schools of delinquency/missing documentation. 
•        Will maintain orderly documentation/records
•        Will support other Career Coaches as needed with documentation and special events with approval from supervisor
•        Serves Career Coaches by answering questions; forwarding messages; providing information, etc. 
•        Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
•        Exploring opportunities to add value to program. 
Job Qualifications:  May be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate level program leading to a degree in education, human services, or related field; Bachelor’s Degree or Associates degree in education, human services or related field from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university; Experience preferred in working with high school students; proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; record-keeping/data collection skills; can work flexible hours.
