•        Develop and maintain a relationship with students, teachers and parents, high school and key college offices (enrollment services - recruitment, admissions; career services, financial aid, etc.) and leaders (academic deans and directors)
•        Meet with students periodically, either individually or in small groups, to discuss their career goals, attendance, academic performance or any related concerns they may have. 
•        Refer students to the Guidance Counselor or Graduation Coach for academic or personal needs beyond the services provided by the career coach. 
•        Monitor students and document (using provided forms) progress so each student will be on track for entering post-secondary education and training. 
•        Assist students in the area of dual enrollment and entering post- secondary institutions as a full time student. (i.e. filling out college applications and financial aid forms, etc.)
•        Promote articulation of secondary to post-secondary courses.
•        Will maintain and submit proper records/documentation as required by supervisor.
•        Must meet deadlines as well as attend all training\'s and bi-weekly meetings. 
•        Must actively participate in the planning and facilitation of special events (i.e. Career and Technology Fair, Destination Delta, College Goal Sunday quarterly events, etc.)

Here’s a little more detail explanation:

We have five sites across Ouachita Parish being Riser Middle, Riser Elementary, and Riverbend Elementary all in West Monroe and Swayze Elementary and Shady Grove elementary all in Monroe. The mentor is required to be at each campus Monday-Thursday at 2:45-6. The mentor will lead their group of students through each phase of the day. The first phase is academic time in which the mentor will assist the professional teacher in tutoring the students. The second phase is dinner time in which you will lead the students to the cafeteria for dinner to be serve. The third phase is Enrichment. During this time, the mentor would lead the students through a devotional lesson, positive action lesson, or some type of life skill. Throughout all phases of the program you are sharing the love of Jesus and each phase creates that opportunity in a different way.
