Naming Opportunities Program: Guidelines and Overview
Numerous endowment opportunities are available to name academic and athletic facilities, eminent faculty positions, and many other special opportunities campus-wide. The following offers a brief overview of some of the guidelines:
Buildings
• New building with 100% private funding: 50% - 75% of total costs.
• New building with private funding component: at least 50% of the private fundraising goal.
• Existing building: addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Other Physical Facilities
• Laboratory: $300,000 - $1,000,000
• Multi-media classroom: $150,000 - $250,000
• Other classrooms: $50,000 - $150,000
Academic or Other Major University Units – Minimum Endowment Ranges
(some may require higher funding)
• College or Division: $5,000,000 – $10,000,000
• School or Department: $2,000,000 - $5,000,000
• University-wide Center: $2,000,000 - $3,750,000
• Unit/Center/Institute within a College: $1,000,000 - $2,500,000
Endowed Faculty Positions – Minimum Endowment
• Chair: $1,000,000
• Professorship: $100,000
Lectureship and Lecture Series – Minimum Endowment
• Distinguished Lectureship Series: $750,000
• Presidential Lectureship Series: $250,000
• Visiting Lecture Series: $100,000
Fellowships and Scholarships – Minimum Endowment
• Post-Doctoral Fellowships: $200,000 - $400,000
• Graduate Fellows: $150,000 - $250,000
• Scholarships: $20,000 - $250,000
Other Naming Opportunities – Minimum Endowment
• Endowed Fund for Excellence - $25,000
• Teaching, Service, Research, and Staff Awards: $25,000
• Other Endowments: $25,000
