Dr. Stan WilliamsonDr. Stan Williamson is the Chairholder of the Bruce and Liz Boulware Professorship in Management.

He is a professor of management at the university and has been since 2003. Previously, he was an associate professor of the same from 1996-2003, an assistant professor from 1990-1996, and held the ULM Tom and Mayme Scott Endowed Professorship for Teaching Excellence from 1999-2002.

He received his B.S. in business administration from Louisiana Tech University, summa cum laude, in 1972; his M.S. in health care administration from Trinity University in 1975; and his Ph.D. in personnel management and organizational behavior from the University of North Texas in 1990.

His business experience includes posts as an administrator at North Claiborne Hospital in Haynesville, La.; vice-president of facility development at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, La; and director of staff services at the same.

Teaching innovations include employing Michaelsen's Team Based Learning process to incorporate active learning in the classroom and allowing student teams to negotiate with each other to determine the value of an assignment for the course in order to encourage team interaction, involvement and cohesion. He uses Hollywood cinema excerpts to demonstrate organizational behavior concepts in the classroom, uses role-playing to emphasize certain course concepts, and employs special recognition techniques for highest scoring students/teams on exams.

His participation in peer-reviewed books, chapters in books, journal articles, and cases is prolific. He actively contributes to peer- and non-peer-reviewed proceedings or presentations for professional meetings.

He maintains a membership in such organizations as the Academy of Management - Organizational Behavior Division and Business Policy and Strategy Division, as well as in the Federation of Business Disciplines/Southwest Academy of Management. He reviews cases and papers for other professional organizations, performs constituent service activities, and contributes to copious community service programs.

He serves on several committees on a departmental, college and university level.
