ULM Honors Curriculum
The Program is open to students in all majors. Students will take 16 hours of an
Honors Core and then select one of two Honors options.
Honors Core – To complete the Honors Core students must take:
- Honors Freshman English (ENGL 1010)
- Honors Freshman Seminar (UNIV 1001)
- Honors Fine Arts (ARTS 1010)
- Honors Social Science, select one
- HONR 3001 – Honors Social Science
- POLS 2010 – Honors Political Science
- Honors Humanities
- Literature, select one
- Other, select one
- HIST 1010
- HIST 2009
- HIST 2019
- CMST 1010
All courses in the Honors Core Curriculum substitute for courses in the University
Core Curriculum.
Upon completion of the Honors Core, the student will have two choices:
Honors in the College (22 hours) - To complete Honors in the College the student must take:
- Honors Colloquium (HONR 1010)
- Honors Seminar (HONR 4010)
- Six (6) hours of the same Foreign Language or ULMHP- approved Study Abroad
- Twelve (12) hours in the major using the Honors Option or ULMHP-approved Internship
Students must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.4 by graduation
(3.3 freshman year; 3.4 sophomore and junior year). Completion of curriculum requirements
and a minimum grade point average will qualify a student to obtain a certificate from
the Honors Program.
Honors in the University (24 hours) - To complete Honors in the University the student must take:
- Honors Colloquium (HONR 1010)
- Honors Seminar (HONR 4010)
- Six (6) hours of the same Foreign Language or ULMHP- approved Study Abroad
- Twelve (12) hours in the major using the Honors Option or ULMHP-approved Internship
- Honors Thesis, plus Thesis Hours – 2 (HONR 4015)
Students must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 by graduation
(3.3 freshman year; 3.4 sophomore year; 3.5 junior year). Completion of curriculum
requirements and a minimum grade point average will qualify a student to obtain a
certificate from the Honors Program and to receive special recognition at graduation.
