Undergraduate Program: Admission Information

International GraphicULM has welcomed international students for many years. The International Student Office provides information and assistance to international students regarding University regulations, legal requirements, financial matters, and personal affairs.

All international students are urged to visit the International Student Office, located in Hanna Hall, Room #207, as soon as they arrive on campus and to maintain contact with the office during their stay at the University.

Once admitted to ULM, you will be contacted by the International Student Office concerning the University orientation program. Your attendance at orientation is a requirement of your visa.

New, first year, undergraduate students must have a 2.5 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) or better plus SAT test scores in Critical Reading of 450 or greater or Math scores of 460 or greater.

Transfer students do not need SAT scores but will have to have18 hrs of college credit, credit in a college-level math and a minimum GPA of 2.5

An applicant who has not begun any college or university studies is considered for freshman admission if the applicant has completed the equivalent of 12 years of American elementary and secondary schooling and submits evidence of satisfactory completion of the necessary enrollment requirements, or leave examinations, or other qualifications necessary for admission to university level studies in the home country. Such an applicant must also be prepared to submit evidence of grades earned in the last four years of secondary school.

If the applicant has completed more than a year of full-time university or college level study (30 semester hours or more), the applicant is considered as a college transfer with advanced standing credit and no secondary school records need to be submitted.

If the applicant has attempted less than a year of university level study (i.e. less than 30 semester hours), the applicant's admission is based on the secondary school records and university transcripts must be submitted and appropriate transfer credit will be granted.

Beginning international freshmen and transfer students who have taken the American College Test (ACT) should have an official copy of the scores forwarded to ULM from the Educational Testing Service. If these students have not taken the ACT, they will be required to take it or ULM Placement Examinations in prescribed subject areas after their arrival.
