Kinesiology Accreditation

The Department of Kinesiology is part of the College of Education and Human Development, which is fully accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The undergraduate exercise science concentration in the Department of Kinesiology was one of the first to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the graduate program in exercise physiology was the first nationally accredited program.

News... In 2009, the undergraduate (K-12) Health and Physical Education Teacher Certification program report submitted by the Department of Kinesiology to NASPE was selected as one of three programs in the nation to provide guidance for other higher education physical education programs in completing their accreditation reports.  The report submitted by the ULM Department of Kinesiology was selected based on its ability to show that the program met all 10 standards "without conditions" and provided evidence of connecting the preparation of ULM teacher candidates with student success in physical education K-12 settings.  Click here to read more.

Kinesiology Industry Advisory Council

The Department of Kinesiology Industry Advisory Council is made up of local, regional, and national leaders in the fields of exercise science, fitness, health promotion, physical education, and sport. The role of the Council is to advise the Department Head and faculty members on industry and accreditation-related matters. This helps the department make appropriate changes in its curriculum to meet the demands of each kinesiology-related industry and keep ULM's Department of Kinesiology students efficient and competitive.

The members of the Industry Advisory Council meet once per semester on the campus of ULM. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Kinesiology Department's Industry Advisory Council, please contact Dr. Wilson Campbell at (318) 342-1306. or e-mail: wcampbell@ulm.edu.
