ACSM Announces Change in Certification Titles

ACSM has announced a historic change to two of their certification titles to better reflect the qualifications of the professionals who hold them. As of October 1st, the ACSM Health/Fitness Instructor® will become the “ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist® (HFS),” and the ACSM Exercise Specialist® will become the “ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist® (CES).” ACSM believes these new credentials provide a clearer image to clients and customers regarding knowledge, skills and abilities. YMCA
The YMCA is getting ready for another year of after school/day camp and is looking to get some Kinesiology students involved.  In the past they have had Kinesiology students work with them as interns--helping to align their after-school recreational activities with the Louisiana Standards for Physical Education.  This year they would like to update and complete that process if any KINS students are interested in interning with them. Interested students would be designing physical activities for school-aged children, facilitating play experiences with the children, and identifying how all the related movement activities helps the children develop according to the Physical Education standards.

Interested students can also work in the after-school program as a part-time job.

If this sounds interesting to you, please contact:
