Dan Rather, who has circled the globe reporting on some of the most significant events of our time, spoke on “What I’ve Learned from a Lifetime of Reporting,” at 7 p.m., April 19, 2011, in Brown Auditorium, as part of the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Lyceum Series.

Earlier in the day, Rather shared his experiences with ULM students in a master class, followed by a short visit with local media outlets before heading to the Patron Party scheduled at 5:30 p.m. in the ULM Seventh Floor Library Conference Center.

“We are extremely pleased to host another in a long succession of notable speakers for our annual Lyceum event,” said ULM Provost Steve Richters.

“The dialogue that occurs between the public and the speakers we host each year is just one more example of the intangible benefits the university provides through its presence in the region, and an excellent opportunity to enhance our ties with ULM’s proud supporters.”

ULM's Lyceum Series began in 2003 to promote intellectual exchange among ULM students, faculty, staff and the community.

Past Lyceum speakers have included journalist and Pulitzer prize winning author Thomas Friedman; broadcast journalist Lisa Ling; political strategists James Carville and Mary Matalin; businessman and entrepreneur Steve Forbes; comedian and television personality Ben Stein; laywer and social activist Robert Kennedy Jr.; author/historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Doris Kearns Goodwin; and film/TV star and comedian Bill Cosby.
