Applying to the graduate program requires you to communicate with both the Creative Systemic Studies Program and the Graduate School directly. Please use the checklist below and follow the detailed instructions for each item.
However, we encourage you not to wait on notification from the Graduate School to begin Step 2.
First, complete the application online or mail a hard copy. We find the online process easier.
Online. Complete the ULM graduate application online at domestic online application or international online application. Pay the non-refundable $20 application fee ($30 for international students) by credit card when you submit your form. ULM accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover.
Mail hard copy. Print a copy of the Graduate School application, complete it, include a $20 check or money order made payable to University of Louisiana at Monroe, and mail it to:The Graduate School
Next, request official university transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work (one copy from each school attended) to be sent directly to the Graduate School address listed above.
The application portfolio consists of 4 documents which you must submit to the Creative Systemic Studies Online Doctoral Program electronically. You do not have to wait on notification from the Graduate School to send us your portfolio.
First, download and complete the Program Application and include with it the following items:

Please indicate employment history, education, scholarship, and other creative work.
~ Scholarly Writing Sample
Submit an 8-10 page sample of scholarly writing. You may submit a previous academic paper. This is one of the most important parts of you application since the goal of a doctoral program is to write a dissertation.
~ Doctoral Program Goal Statement
In a 2-3 page (typed, double-spaced) statement, tell us what you are looking for in a doctoral program.
A complete portfolio contains ALL four documents attached and emailed to email@example.com. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Please arrange for three individuals, who are familiar with your work, to write a letter assessing your ability to successfully complete the doctoral program. Recommendations MUST be on official letterhead, mailed from the individual to:Admissions Committee
