Dr. Thompson serves as chair of the String Division in the School of Music, coaches chamber music, conducts orchestral string sectionals, and teaches violin, viola and music enjoyment. In 1992, Thompson served on the artist/faculty of Sessione Senese, a summer music institute at the University of Siena in Italy. In 1994, Dr. Thompson was one of eleven music professors in the United States to receive a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award. As a Senior Fulbright Lecturer, he served as Artist-In-Residence with the Taipei Symphony in Taiwan. Thompson is a biographee in the 1995 edition of the International Who’s Who in Music, and is published by Conners Publications. In 2002, Thompson has presented workshops on Interfacing the Social Sciences with the Fine Arts of the Baroque at conferences held at the College of William & Mary and in Toronto, Canada.
