ULM’s Pi Kappa Alpha to raise funds for Ouachita Parish Fire Department

Published April 28, 2014

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Pi Kappa Alpha chapter will hold “PIKE Jam,” a fundraiser for the Ouachita Parish Fire Department. The event will take place beginning at 9 p.m., on Friday, May 2, at Encore, located at 2003 Tower Drive, in Monroe. The cover charge is $10.

Addison McDougle, ULM’s Pi Kappa Alpha President said, “Pi Kappa Alpha is excited about hosting this event in support of the Ouachita Parish firefighters. I hope everyone will turn out and enjoy the bands in support of this great cause.”

Live music will provided by The Larangos, Parish Line, and Petey. All funds donated will be given to the fire department.

"We’re excited about PIKE Jam," said Devin Girod, a member of headlining group the Larangos. "Three of our five band members are PIKE alums and my cousin is a Ouachita Parish firefighter, so the personal ties are encouragement to help our fraternity and community with our involvement."

"We play shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so we have a busy weekend. However, Friday will be our night to relax, play for friends, fans, and locals. We plan to play some new material—since it’s a local show—while also having the opportunity to help our community."

Pi Kappa Alpha has 224 chapters in North America and is headquartered in Memphis, Tenn.

The Pi Kappa Alpha chapter at ULM was founded in 1972.
