ULM water skiers compete in international tournament

The 56th Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament—considered the most prestigious tournament in the sport—is an invitation-only tournament for the world’s greatest water skiers. This year’s event features a host of current, former, and incoming students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe Water Ski Team.

Beginning today, the tournament will be broadcast live at the tournament website and will feature Warhawks vying to be the best in the world.

The event will run May 22-24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Current ULM Water Ski Team members competing include: Adam Pickos, a psychology major from Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., who will compete in the men’s trick category; and Freddie Winter, an MBA student from London, who will compete in the men’s slalom category.

Aliaksandra “Sasha” Danisheuskaya, a computer information systems major from Belarus and junior competitor, will compete in the junior women’s trick, slalom, jump, and overall skier categories.

Danylo Flichenko of the Ukraine, will compete in the junior men’s trick, slalom, jump, and overall skier categories. Flichenko will join the ULM Water Ski Team this fall.

Former ULM Water Ski Team members competing include: Adam Sedlmajer (BBA ’10 MBA ’12) and Aliaksei Zharnasek (BBA ’07) competing in the men’s trick category; Alex Lauretano (BBA ’12) and Natallia Berdnikava (BBA ’08) competing in the women’s trick category; Daniel Odvarko (BBA ’10 MBA ’11) and Thomas Degasperi (BA ’06) competing in the men’s slalom category; and Regina Jaquess (Pharm.D. ’09) and Breanne Wagner Dodd (BBA ’07) competing in the women’s slalom category.

Ryan Dodd (BBA ’07) and Freddy Krueger, a former ULM criminal justice student, will compete in the men’s jump category. Berdnikava and Jaquess will also compete in the women’s jump category.
