MONROE, La. — The University of Louisiana Monroe has been identified as having one of the most affordable online Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction degree programs by TopEducationDegrees.org.

From nearly 150 schools listed in the NCES College Navigator, the ranking site identified 50 with the lowest reported graduate tuition and fees. Additional information was collected directly from university websites.

ULM’s online Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction was ranked no. 36.

“Affordable Curriculum and Instruction Masters Online programs are offered at various schools, but not all combine the studies and rigor that University of Louisiana at Monroe’s program does,” according to the ranking.

Top Education Degrees’ mission is to provide high-quality, well-researched education and career resources for individuals in the education field. As the site indicates, most graduate students in education are working professionals, especially teachers, who are looking for a quality degree with flexible hours.

ULM’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction is a 36-hour program that offers eight different concentrations. The concentrations include early childhood education; elementary education; English as a second language (ESL); reading; special education (academically gifted); special education (early intervention); special education (educational diagnostics); and special education (mild/moderate disabilities).

The program has received several other national rankings over the years, including being ranked no. 6 in the nation by TopMastersinEducation.com in 2014-2015.

In addition to its online Master’s program, ULM also offers a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction—a comprehensive, rigorous program of academic study that provides the convenience of the online format. The strength of the doctoral program contributed to ULM’s being recently recognized as one of the state’s six doctoral-granting institutions by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education (CCIHE).

"ULM is committed to providing adult learners the opportunity to earn their education at an affordable cost,” said Paula Thornhill, director of eULM. “In today’s economic climate, affordable education is a necessity and we are making sure that we do our part in making that happen.”
