Federal tax class offered by ULM's SBDC

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Small Business Development Center is offering a free two-part workshop in "Meeting Your Federal Tax Obligation," Feb. 7 and 8. The class will meet on Monday and Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the ULM Administration Building, room 2-105.

Part I of the workshop will provide an introduction to business tax fundamentals, highlight tax benefits and obligations, and employer tax responsibilities. Topics of discussion include the basics of preparing your business tax returns, withholding and estimating federal taxes, completion of and compliance with forms related to employment taxes, etc.

Part II of the workshop will explore selected topics in federal taxes for small businesses. This will include a discussion of tax laws, common IRS schedules, business deductions and tax computation for small business owners.

Speakers will include Clint Loftlin of the Internal Revenue Service and Sharon Scioneaux from the Department of Revenue and Taxation.
