ULM to host fund fundraiser for rescue workers in last week's terror attack

This Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a fundraiser lunch, "United We Stand, Ouachita Parish," will be held in ULM's Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The rally and fundraiser is a combined effort on the part of many individuals in the community. Proceeds will go to the families of the New York City Firefighters, law enforcement officers, and rescue workers who perished in the World Trade Center terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

Lunch will be served there or packed "to go." Donations in any amount are accepted. Checks should be made payable to the NYC Relief Fund and are tax deductible. There will be a program at noon and local firefighters and police officers will be on hand in uniform to help collect donations.

Major sponsors include the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Northeast Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association, Sheriff's Department of Ouachita Parish, Police and Fire Departments of Monroe, West Monroe and Ouachita Parish.
