ULM Professor To Teach In The Philippines

Dr. Laurie L. Charles, Assistant Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy in the Department of Instructional Leadership and Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Monroe has accepted a Visiting Professorship appointment for seven weeks in Manila, The Philippines. She begins there on May 26.

"I am doing this as a volunteer position, in order to provide resources in an area that needs them, and also as a way to increase my effectiveness as a professor here by going outside of my "comfort zone" to teach in a place where I'm new to the culture. I am also a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and that experience also influences this decision."
