ULM Speech and Debate Forum Victorious in Houston

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Speech and Debate Forum began the 2003-2004 intercollegiate speech competition season with a third place finish at one of the nation's strongest intercollegiate competitions. The competition featured the 2002 national championship team from the University of Texas, in-state rivals McNeese State University, as well as eleven other universities from throughout the region. The tournaments, hosted by the University of St. Thomas and Rice University, were held in Houston, Texas on September 27-28.

The team next travels to Manhattan, Kansas on October 3-5, for the Kansas State University Invitational. On October 24-26, some of the regions finest teams will be hosted in Monroe as the ULM Speech and Debate Forum hosts the annual R.J. Bicker Speech and Debate Tournament. The team will then complete the fall semester with competitions at Central Missouri State University and Louisiana State University - Shreveport over the October 31-November 2 and November 14-16 weekends
respectively.

This year's team members are Isaac Henderson, who finished third in Dramatic Interpretation during the St. Thomas tournament and fourth place in both Dramatic Interpretation and Poetry Interpretation during the Rice University portion of the competition, Lucia Anderson, Kymberleigh Bell, Tara Bouchie, Nick Hirsch, Kina Reed, and Lashonda Williams
