ULM Speech and Debate Forum Wins State Championship

The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Speech and Debate Forum continued its success by capturing state titles in four events at the Louisiana Intercollegiate Forensics Association Championships. The tournaments, hosted by Louisiana Tech University, were held in Ruston, La. on February 6-8th.

Isaac Henderson led the team, finishing as state champion in Dramatic Interpretation and Program of Oral Interpretation. Henderson also earned the state championship in the Pentathlon competition, which recognizes the top overall individual competitor in a combination of five events. In debate competition, Amy Wilson garnered the top spot with a state championship in Public Debate.

In addition to the championships, the team had a strong showing, winning a total of twenty-five awards. The team will next travel to LSU on February 21-22, for its final tune-up before the national championship tournaments, which will be held this March.
