College of Business Administration Honors Banquet

The College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Monroe held its 36th Annual Honors Banquet in the ULM Library Conference Center recently to honor outstanding students in the College of Business Administration.

Students receiving College and departmental awards were:

Nicholas Drew Vidrine, accounting major from Delhi, received the College of Business Administration Distinguished Scholar Award.

Christie Leigh Messinger, computer information systems major from Bastrop, received the College of Business Administration Dean's Award and Outstanding Graduate in Computer Information Systems Award.

Ashley Vaughan Fisher, management major from Monroe, received the College of Business Administration Outstanding Graduate Award.

Brian W. Bundy, accounting major from Monroe, received the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award and Outstanding Graduate in Accounting Award.

Katy E. McLeod, management major from Marion, received the Outstanding Graduate in Management Award.

Alma Zic, economics major from Bosnia, received the Outstanding Graduate in Economics Award.

James C. Poland, finance major from West Monroe, received the Outstanding Graduate in Finance Award.

Emma J. Blanchard, general business major from West Monroe, received the Outstanding Graduate in General Business Award.

Alana J. Truelove, marketing major from Monroe, received the Outstanding Graduate in Marketing Award.

Master of Business Administration Outstanding Graduate Awards were presented to Elizabeth John of India for Summer 2003; Faith Roper of Monroe for Fall 2003; and Frank Cumpton of Rayville, for Spring 2004.

Other nominees for the College of Business Administration Outstanding Student awards were Cindy S. Barker, management major from The Woodlands, Texas, who also received the Pi Sigma Epsilon Outstanding Student Award for Spring 2004; Emma J. Blanchard; Jodie B. Crawley, accounting major from West Monroe; Brett D. Frey, management major from Eunice; Joshua E. Hazel, computer information systems major from Monroe, who also received the Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Graduating Senior Award; James C. Poland, finance major from West Monroe; Mark I. Richard, computer information systems major from Monroe; and Alma Zic.

Departmental award winners, their majors and hometowns are:

James W. Moore Jr., accounting, Monroe, the Harry M. Bell Memorial Scholarship Award; Lawson D. Fall, accounting, Alexandria, Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants Scholarship Award; Maria Echenique, economics, Argentina, Outstanding Student in Economics Award; Preston J. Fulco, finance, Monroe, Outstanding Student in Finance Award and the National Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship Award; Joshua L. Carson, insurance, Crowville, Bill Sanders Outstanding Insurance Student Award; Krystal G. Evans, insurance, Bastrop, Bill Sanders Outstanding Insurance Student Award; Paul A. Bass, management, West Monroe, the Pi Sigma Epsilon Outstanding Student Award for Fall 2003; and Rachel Duckworth, marketing, Eudora, Ark., and Wendy Elliott, marketing, Monroe, both were awarded Institute of Supply Management Scholarships.

Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honorary fraternity for collegiate business students, selected its outstanding students as well. The Kitty DeGree/Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Junior Scholarship was awarded to Debra Daron, general business, Monroe; Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding MBA Graduate was presented to Mehmet Elgin, Turkey. Named as Chapter Honorees were Dave Norris, Mayor of West Monroe and Bruce Boulware, Chief Operating Officer of O'Melveny & Myers, LLP, San Francisco, Calif. Dr. Kitty Degree of Monroe received the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement Award and Dr. Paul Dunn, Monroe, was presented the Beta Gamma Sigma Entrepreneurship Medallion.

Dr. Tammy R. Parker, economics and finance , received the College of Business Administration Outstanding Intellectual Contributions Award. Departmental Outstanding Intellectual Contributions Awards were given to Dr. Paul Dunn, management and marketing, and Dr. Ruth Miller, computer information systems. Dr. Michelle McEacharn, accounting, was recognized as the College of Business Administration Outstanding Professor.
