ULM's SGA Awards Outstanding Students at Annual Banquet

The Student Government Association at the University of Louisiana at Monroe recently held its annual awards banquet. At the dinner, new SGA officers were sworn in and the SGA presented several awards.

The new SGA executive officers are Evan Earl, president; LaTroy Cato, vice president; and Erica Peyton, secretary. Outgoing officers recognized were Kayla Haltom, president; Evan Earl, vice president; and Sharonda Williams, secretary.

ULM Outstanding Female Student of the year went to Shriya Bhushan. Outstanding Male Student of the year went to Davey Legendre. Legendre, Mortar Board President, also received this award last year. Both are pharmacy majors. They each received the Student Involvement Scholarship of $2,650 as their reward.

Bhushan was also selected by the SGA as the most highly qualified student for the Nick Lassiter Memorial Scholarship of $300.

ULM Organization of the Year went to Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. This is the 3rd year of the award's four-year history that this fraternity has received this award.

SGA Award of Excellence to an Outstanding Faculty or Staff went to Dr. Pearson Cross.
