President's Gala is Broadway Production

The second annual "President's Gala," a fund raiser for the School of Visual and Performing Arts, will be Tuesday October 12. Titled "A Postcard From Broadway" the black tie optional evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with aperitifs on the veranda in front of the Recital Hall where a jazz combo of music students will play songs from Broadway. At 7:30 p.m., Dr. and Mrs. Cofer will invite guests into the Recital Hall for an hour of Broadway favorites.

The program is produced by Corey Trahan, current Biedenharn Endowed Chair in Music. The Recital Hall stage will be transformed with lights and set into a Broadway theatre. Music vocal faculty and music vocal students with students from a dance ensemble will perform a varity of "tunes" from the Broadway Stage.

The evening will end back on the veranda with a "meet the artists" reception for everyone. Occurring concurrently under the veranda tent will be a silent art auction of pieces by the Division of Art faculty and alums. Pieces will be sold at the conclusion of the reception. This is the primary fund raising event for the School of Visual and Performing Arts and procedes will be used to help the arts programs better serve students. Tickets are $50 and can be reserved by calling 318-342-1010. Additional tickets may be available at the door.
