ULM faculty awarded for excellence

The University of Louisiana at Monroe honored its outstanding faculty at a reception May 10 in the University Conference Center.

The Outstanding Professor Award recognizes professors for teaching excellence, academic service, scholarship and community outreach.

Those honored include:

Jeff Galle, English; Serpil Saydam, mathematics and physics; Kenneth Clow, marketing; Wilson Campbell, kinesiology; Karen Stansbury, nursing; Khalid A.El Sayed, basic pharmaceutical sciences.

In accepting their awards, the professors spoke highly of their peers and the administration. Award recipients were eager to identify the university's strengths.

"My success is not because of me. It's because of the faculty and the administration in the business department who made changes that will provide better jobs and skills for our students," Clow said.

Honorees shared the awards with their colleagues. "We're all here to teach, to research, to serve at this university. This award reflects on all of us," Galle said.

Reflecting on the university and its faculty, ULM Provost Stephen Richters said, "The university is stronger than ever and the university's work has progressed without a hitch."
