Construction begins at ULM soccer complex

As they head into their first season in the Sun Belt Conference, the Louisiana Monroe soccer team is also anticipating a new facility.

The groundwork for the ULM Soccer Complex is in the initial project phase.

“Work is progressing at a pretty rapid rate,” ULM associate athletic director Doug Mosley said. “What was a large meadow on Monday morning is now taking the shape of our new soccer field. It won’t be long until a new home for our soccer program is complete.”

Work began on Monday, May 22 with an expected completion by Friday, May 26.

During this stage, 200 loads, or approximately 2,000 yards of dirt will be dropped to prepare the foundation of the field.

Additional stages will involve laying sod on the playing surface and moving the soccer scoreboard from Brown Stadium to the ULM Soccer Complex, as well as installing bleachers.

The tentative completion date for the project is Aug. 1.
