Irish dance workshop Sept. 23

The Division of Continuing Education at the ULM will host an Irish Dance Workshop Saturday, Sept. 23 in room 120 of Brown Annex. A morning session featuring Solo “Riverdance” Steps will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon. An afternoon session will be held from 1:30- 4 p.m. and will include Ceili “Figure” Dancing.

Solo “Riverdance” Steps include the Reel, Light Jig and Slip Jig. Ceili “Figure” Dance is Irish social dancing similar to American Square Dancing. Instructors will be K.T. Vogler, Sarabeth Vogler and Carolyn Vogler.

Celtic enthusiasts, dancers and anyone looking for a fun and creative fitness routine will enjoy the art of Irish dance taught by competition Irish dancers. Both sessions are open to all ages and levels of dancers from beginner to the advanced dancer. Cost is $20 per session or $35 for both. A light lunch is included. No special shoes are needed.

Participants in these sessions will have the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills at the Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival on Oct. 7-8. To register for the workshop, visit www.ce.ulm.edu or call 342-1030.
