ULM students to benefit from A.W.A.R.E. III™ Simulator Aug. 27

The lesson: think long and hard before you drink and drive, and here’s a safe and free way for ULM students to discover why as they experience the nationally ranked A.W.A.R.E. III™ Simulator Wednesday, Aug. 27 at the Student Union Building overhang from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The ULM Counseling Center and resident counselor Steve Kelly are hosting P.E.E.R.S., a national drug and alcohol prevention program that will provide the equipment, an actual vehicle with the simulator attached. This will take the students into a world where they can physically see, feel, and totally experience the dangers of drunken driving as the car simulates various levels of intoxication, based on gender, body type and drinks per hour.

Students are shown the outward dangers of these factors in addition to the aftereffect of drinking and driving incidences. P.E.E.R.S. professional facilitators will also bring high-impact video presentations.
