ULM faculty member appointed VP of statewide professional organization

Members of the Louisiana Association for College Composition appointed a ULM faculty member as vice president of the organization during their annual meeting last week in Alexandria.

Christopher S. Harris, assistant professor and director of first-year composition, was named vice president of the LACC and will preside as chair of the 2009 conference when it comes to ULM next November. At the annual conference, scholars present information about the theory and practice of writing instruction.

Another ULM faculty member, Donna Rhorer, is current treasurer of the association.

In addition to English department faculty, association membership includes writing program directors, teachers and graduate students in English from universities, community colleges and high schools across Louisiana.

LACC is the state’s professional organization dedicated to effectively teaching writing in institutions of higher education. Members publish the blind, peer-reviewed Journal of College Writing, with creative works and articles concerning the teaching of writing, as well as the online newsletter, The Active Voice.
