ULM offers array of counseling services to campus community

The ULM Counseling Center is offering two support and therapy groups the Spring 2009 semester, which include the following:

A student-only Anxiety Support Group will begin Feb. 2, from 1 to 2 p.m., in Room 161 of the ULM Student Center. The purpose of the group is to gain knowledge of, and practice, in reducing anxiety.

A Cancer Support Group for student, staff, and faculty members began in mid-January and will continue meeting each Thursday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Room 161 of the Student Center. (The group will meet in Ballroom E of the Student Union Building on Mar. 26 and Apr. 30.)

The sessions provide a safe environment to explore the emotional, psychological, and other effects of cancer on self and others, and to empower individuals diagnosed with cancer and provide mutual support.

For more detailed information on either of these groups, please contact the ULM Counseling Center, 318-342-5220 or send an e-mail to the group facilitator, Denise Pani, LPC, LMFT, NCC, at dpani@ulm.edu.

If these dates and times do not fit a student, staff or faculty member’s schedule, the Counseling Center may be able to offer another group at a different day or time. Individual counseling is also available for these group therapies.
