ULM librarian listed in "Marquis Who's Who of American Women"

Interlibrary Loan Librarian Melinda F. Matthews at the University of Louisiana at Monroe has been listed in the 2008-09 edition of "Marquis Who's Who of American Women."

Matthews joins several others in the reference manual, which has provided a detailed listing of the credentials and achievements of many of the most notable and successful Americans since it was first published in 1899.

She also serves as secretary of the Louisiana Library Association, taking minutes for the LLA Executive Board meetings, which meets five times a fiscal year. LLA members submit the nomination for secretary and fill the position following an election among members of the Association. Matthew's term as secretary runs until June 2009.

Matthews earned her master's degree in Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in May 1990. She earned a bachelor's degree in English in December 1988 from McNeese State University in Lake Charles. She has worked at the ULM Library since July 1990, where she started as Humanities Reference Librarian. She became Interlibrary Loan/Reference Librarian in January 1992.
