Poetry reading to be held Nov. 10 at ULM

The poet Davis McCombs will be reading at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Conference Center on the seventh floor of the ULM Library Building. The reading is sponsored by ULM Student Publications.


McCombs' first book, Ultima Thule, was chosen by the current U.S. Poet Laureate, W. S. Merwin, as the winner of the 1999 Yale Series of Younger Poets. His second book, Dismal Rock (Tupelo 2007), was chosen as the winner of the Dorset Prize by the poet Linda Gregerson, and named Best Second Book by the Contemporary Poetry Review.

His poems have appeared in Poetry, The Missouri Review, Pleiades, The Kenyon Review, Best American Poetry 1996, Best American Poetry 2008, Virginia Quarterly Review, and many other places. An interview with McCombs appears in the current issue of turnrow, available at http://turnrow.ulm.edu.

McCombs currently directs the programs in Creative Writing and Translation at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
