ULM's Williamson appointed to state education committees

Emily Williamson, director of the ULM Child Development Center and Instructor in Curriculum and Instruction, recently received an appointment to serve on both the Louisiana Birth to Pre-K Literacy Plan Task Force and the Kindergarten Readiness Workgroup.

The Louisiana Department of Education directs both committees. The Louisiana Birth to Pre-K Literacy Plan Task Force will review research, initiatives and resources that support literacy for children from birth to Pre-Kindergarten age, providing input and feedback on the proposed Literacy Framework that addresses literacy in Louisiana from birth to 12th grade.

The Louisiana Department of Education's Literacy Goal Office coordinates the Kindergarten Readiness Workgroup, which is charged with developing a Kindergarten Readiness definition and reviewing Kindergarten screening instruments that determine entrance readiness.
