ULM's "Act of Kindness Day" celebrates MLK's legacy on Jan. 17

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Diversity Committee and the Violence Prevention and Intervention Grant Program is sponsoring "MLK Act of Kindness Day" Monday, Jan. 17, in observance of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Committee members urge the campus family to email noteworthy acts of kindness conducted on that day to Dr. Pamela Higgins Saulsberry at saulsberry@ulm.edu or to Dr. Attapol Kuanliang at kuanliang@ulm.edu. The act(s) of kindness will be posted on ULM's Diversity Committee Facebook page. Entry deadline is Monday, Jan. 24.

Here are just a few examples of noteworthy acts of kindness: planting flowers at a widow's residence, cleaning a neighbor's yard, delivering flowers to someone sick, fixing or painting someone's damaged fence, picking up trash on the street, mentoring a young adult or child, spending time with someone with physical challenges or delivering groceries to a needy family.

For more information, please call Dr. Saulsberry at 318-342-1445 or Dr. Kuanliang at 318-342-1449.
